Our Services

All of our services are victim-centered, and we strive to meet victims where they are. While some victims are ready to leave their abusive situations, others request support and safety planning. The Center for Survivors provides a variety of free and confidential services for the purpose of empowering you to make your own choices. We provide services to adults and children regardless of sex/gender utilizing an empathetic and trauma-informed approach.

24-Hour Crisis Hotline

The Center for Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Survivors provides 24 hours telephone crisis assistance to victims. The hotline services a vast area focusing upon the service area counties. 24 Hour Crisis Hotline is provided in English and Spanish.

Advocacy and Support Services

Staff provide in-person immediate crisis support, assistance and advocacy for victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, child/elder abuse, dating violence, stalking and human trafficking upon referral or request from a victim, law enforcement, health care professionals, or legal personnel. Services include ongoing support, empowerment, assistance with referrals and advocacy as needed. Safety planning, protection order assistance, and education regarding the legal system and community supportive resources are key aspects of these services.

Community Education and Outreach

The Center for Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Survivors staff actively reaches out to the community to provide a collaborative education on domestic violence sexual violence, child/elder abuse, dating violence, stalking and human trafficking to those agencies, organizations, schools, individuals, etc. who are likely to encounter victims or perpetrators. This includes specific in-depth training for some entities/individuals and prevention education to a wide range of audiences.

Shelter Services

The Center for Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Survivors provides emergency shelter services to victims of domestic violence, sexual violence, child/elder abuse, dating violence, stalking and human trafficking as a means of providing safety for victims from the threat of further abuse. These services are provided in hotel/motels at undisclosed locations. The Center for Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Survivors offers programming based around an individual’s needs and recognizes the importance of assuring that a client is not forced to return to a violent environment because of limited length of stay. Motel/Hotel services are offered dependent upon referral and client circumstances and needs.

Survivor’s Adult
Support Group

The Survivor’s Adult Support Group provides support to adults and children who have experienced abuse in intimate relationships. Support group is available to all victims: current and former. Clients receive information regarding options available to them whether they decide to stay or leave the situation. They are educated on the dynamics of an abusive relationship through the elements of Power and Control. Other information that is provided is safety planning, effects of violence on children, self-esteem, and other topics related to their experiences. The information provided along with the contacts and relationships made in group are intended to help clients overcome the isolation, guilt and shame they may feel. The group meets once a month and is open and ongoing. Groups are held on the second Monday of the month. An intake needs to be completed with an advocate prior to group participation.

Children’s Group Services

The Children’s Group is provided in conjunction with the Support Group providing child care in a supportive and educational environment. Due to the fluctuation in ages of children and varied attendance from month to month; activities are designed to be developmentally appropriate, encourage healthy relationships, safety planning, and to build positive self-images.

Building Healthy Relationships (BHR)

The Center for Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Survivors believes in social movement and change focused upon the elements of prevention. Building Healthy Relationships provides educational curriculum targeted toward middle school and high school students. The Center partners with middle schools and high schools and provides an 8-10 week educational session. Topics include defining healthy relationships, warning signs of an unhealthy relationship, dating violence, sexual assault, and media’s influence on cultural norms, domestic violence, and communication skills. Adolescent Advocates who facilitate BHR classes also work with students who are victims of abuse and provide crisis intervention services in addition to educational and prevention services.

Revolution

Revolution is the Center for Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Survivors peer to peer educational leadership program. Revolution consists of male and female students who are committed to ending violence within our communities. Revolution members have to complete an application and interview process as well as annual training and monthly meetings. Revolution members are trained on how to respond to victims of abuse and are identified as ambassadors within their schools for non-violence. Revolution does a variety of community outreach and educational events. Revolution is also known for their impactful presentation to schools throughout the state in regards to dating violence, sexual assault and bystander accountability.

Domestic Violence
Intervention Program

The primary focus of the “Domestic Violence Intervention Program” is to hold the abusers accountable for their behavior and to teach them non-violent relationship interaction skills.  The Domestic Violence Intervention Program is a 30 week program that uses the Duluth Model which is co-facilitated.  Topics covered include non-violent relationship skills; respect, trust, support in relationships; and negotiation and fairness in relationships.  The group also challenges participants to explore how their use of power and control has affected their relationships and lives.  Issues that are challenged are the use of intimidation, emotional abuse, physical and sexual abuse, minimizing, denying and blaming tactics in their behavior.  These groups are offered in both English and Spanish.
